Portfolio
We tend to invest early. Often uncomfortably early.
Not because we have perfect information — but because we have conviction. Conviction in founders. Conviction in products we actually use. Conviction in teams who care about making a real difference.
In most cases, we met these companies before they were obvious. We signed on as business customers (usually through our restaurants). Sometimes we were just regular consumers. We asked hard questions. We watched how they handled feedback. We paid attention to how they treated people when no one was watching.
Only then did we jump in and try to help. Sometimes we wrote checks. Other times we were advisors and became owners that way. Either way, we became good at helping when asked, and otherwise staying out of the way and letting good people build great companies.
